Do I Want to Believe?

What’s so great about belief?

You don’t live one day longer,

You don’t grow any taller

Or for that matter, any wiser

What’s so great about belief?

Nothing, so far as I can see

You throw away a bunch of fairy-tales

Except the one, which you keep and lock in a box,

A costume cap to wear on Sundays

To keep the rainfall off your head

But all you need

Is to believe,

They say,

Earnestly,

Just hit your knees
